Tattoo Etiquette: The Importance of Good Hygiene Before Your Appointment
At Mania Tattoo Blackpool, we’re all about creating incredible tattoos in a clean, comfortable, and welcoming environment. Our artists put their heart and soul into their work, and our customers deserve to enjoy their tattoo experience in a relaxed, professional setting.
That’s why we need to talk about something important: personal hygiene before your tattoo appointment.
Why Cleanliness Matters for Your Tattoo Session
Tattoos are an up-close and personal experience. Our artists spend hours working on detailed designs, often in very close contact with their clients. Having good hygiene before your appointment isn’t just a courtesy - it makes the process more comfortable for everyone involved.
Here’s why it’s so important to arrive fresh and clean before getting tattooed:
Respect for Your Artist & Other Clients
Our artists work hard to give you the best possible tattoo. If they have to work through strong body odours, it makes their job much harder. Other customers in the studio also appreciate a fresh-smelling environment.
Hygiene & Healing
Clean skin means fewer bacteria, which helps keep your tattoo area as sterile as possible during the process. Freshly washed skin is better for tattooing and reduces the risk of infection.
Comfort for Everyone
A tattoo session can last hours, and being in close proximity to someone with poor hygiene can be uncomfortable - not just for the artist, but for anyone else in the studio.
How to Prepare for Your Tattoo Session
To make sure your tattoo experience is as smooth and pleasant as possible, we ask all clients to follow these simple hygiene guidelines before their appointment:
- Take a shower or bath – Make sure you wash thoroughly, especially if your tattoo will be in an area that’s usually covered by clothing. Fresh, clean skin makes for a better tattooing experience.
- Wear clean clothes – It’s best to arrive in fresh, comfortable clothing. If your tattoo is in a spot that requires you to remove clothing, make sure what you’re wearing underneath is also clean.
- Avoid strong body odours – We understand that some people have active lifestyles or may be coming from work, but please make time to freshen up before your appointment.
- Skip the heavy perfumes – While we love good hygiene, please avoid wearing strong perfumes or aftershaves, as some of our artists or clients may be sensitive to strong scents.
- Fresh breath matters too – If your tattoo requires you to sit close to your artist’s face (e.g., chest, neck, or arm tattoos), consider brushing your teeth or using a mint before your appointment.
A Friendly Reminder: Let’s Keep It Respectful
We completely understand that sometimes life gets busy, and not everyone realises how important hygiene is for a tattoo appointment. But we do ask that you respect your artist, fellow clients, and the studio environment by arriving fresh, clean, and ready for your session.
If you arrive without following these guidelines, we may need to reschedule your appointment, as we want to maintain a comfortable and hygienic space for everyone.
Thank You for Your Cooperation!
At Mania Tattoo Blackpool, we love what we do, and we want every client to have the best experience possible. A little extra effort in personal hygiene goes a long way in making sure both you and your artist have a great tattoo session.
Thanks for understanding, and we can’t wait to create an amazing tattoo for you!
